Objects of Rotary
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:-
FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity forservice;
SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Professional Networking: A founding principle of Rotary was to provide a forum for professional and business leaders. Members are people in business, industry, the professions, the arts, government, sports, the military, and religion who have the wish and the time to make a difference to our world. Rotary is the oldest, most prestigious service club organization in the world. It needs the infusion of those young in years and spirit to ensure that it has as lively a future as it has a past. Its history over the last hundred and more years is spectacular in it achievements and outstanding service.
The Opportunity to Serve: Rotarians provide service at both the community and international levels. Service programs address health care needs, hunger and poverty, illiteracy, disaster relief, and environmental cleanups, to name a few. Members experience the fulfilment that comes from giving back to the community.By working together in fellowship Rotarians have a great deal of satisfaction of jobs well done and a whole lot of fun in the process.
Personal Growth and Development: Membership in Rotary ensures continuing personal and professional development. Leadership, public speaking and communication, organization and planning, team-building,fundraising, and teaching are just a sampling of the skills that can be exercised and enhanced through Rotary. By bringing to Rotary the skills, and know how from their daily lives they find great joy in making a difference locally and internationally, without the burden of making a profit.
Friendship: Fellowship was a primary reason Rotary was started in 1905, and it remains a major attraction. Today, with more than 30,000 Rotary clubs in over 160 countries, Rotarians have friends wherever they go. Rotary helps to build community as well as enduring friendships.The wearing of the Rotary badge brings instant recognition and is the start of new friendships throughout the world. Whether on business or on holiday you will find a handshake in the most unexpected places.You will be guaranteed a welcome at any Rotary club anywhere you are.
Cultural Diversity: Rotary International is an association oflocal clubs in many countries. Clubs are open to members of every ethnic group, political persuasion, language, and religious belief. Rotary clubs contain a cross-section of the world's shakers and movers. They practice and promote tolerance in theri everyday lives and attitudes.
Good Citizenship: Membership in Rotary makes one a better citizen. Weekly Rotary club programs keep members informed about what is taking place in the community, nation, and world. Rotary's expansive network of clubs and programs provides extensive opportunities for service and interchange.Groups of young professionals are sponsored to find out how things in their professions work in other parts of the world - though they are not themselves Rotarians.
Polio Plus: Rotary has provided the vaccines and logistical support, in conjunction with the World Health Organisation and UNICEF to rid the world of Polio and other killing diseases in all but four remaining areas over the last twenty years. With a contribution from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of over $250 000 000 Rotary will finally banish polio in the next few years. Rotary itself has to match this massive donation by raising a matching sum - and this has stimulated some innovative enterprises on behalf of this club. Rotarians always rise to a challenge and have fun doing so.
World Understanding: Rotary members gain an understanding of humanitarian issues and have a significant impact on them through international service projects and exchange programs of RI and its Foundation. Rotary Foundation is the largest sponsor of international graduate studies in the world - not a lot of people know that!! The promotion of peace is one of Rotary's highestobjectives. Rotary was a central part of setting up the United Nations Organisation and has highest representation at their headquarters in New York.
Entertainment: Every Rotary club and district hosts parties and activities that offer diversion from one's personal and business life. Conferences, conventions, assemblies, and social events provide entertainment as well as Rotary information, education, and service. Rotarians have a good time as well as doing good.
Family Foundations: Rotary sponsors some of the world's largest youth exchange and educational exchange and scholarship programs. Rotary clubs provide innovative training opportunities and mentoring for future leaders. They involve family members in a wide range of social and service activities.
Ethical Environment: Rotarians practice a 4-Way Test that measures words and actions by their truthfulness, fairness, goodwill, and benefit to all. Encouraging high ethical standards in one's personal and professional life, and respect for all worthy vocations have been a hallmark of Rotary from its earliest days.
