Grantham Rotarian Becomes a Chaplain to The Queen
RECTOR of Grantham Canon Chris Andrews has been appointed as one of the chaplains to the Queen. The Reverend Andrews, the vicar of St Wulfram's Church, Grantham, accepted the position last month after his name was put forward by the Church of England to take up the post.
He is one of more than 30 members of the clergy to hold the position, and now wears a bright red cassock to denote his new status.
He said: "It came out of a clear blue sky. Your name is put forward and if your face fits you're offered the opportunity to be appointed.
"It's quite an honour."
As part of his new role, the Reverend Andrews will be invited to preach at one of the Royal chapels once a year and will receive invitations to palace functions.
He has yet to be introduced to the Queen, but expects to be invited to a Buckingham Palace garden party to meet her in the near future
